The MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Collection: MAC Evolution Revolution Lipglass - Makeup and Beauty Blog

I suppose the very beginning spark that led to MAC Development Revolution Lipglass ($14.50) ignited one twenty-four hours in Mrs. Mannah's 2nd-grade grade. The year was 1982, and I'd but met Jen, who would speedily go i of my lifelong BFFs.

Development Revolution is the shade I created for the upcoming MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Collection, a nine-piece drove of MAC Eyeshadows and Lipglasses launching June 21, exclusively online (available now!). It's also the real reason for the undercover squirrel trip I took to Toronto terminal April.

Jen and I all the same call up with frightening accuracy all of the beautiful boys in our second-grade class. "Call up Lee, with the missing tooth?" Jen volition ask. "Oh, yep," I'll respond. "Total hottie."

Sometimes I find it hard to believe, merely nosotros've been obsessing over boys for near 27 years. Jen's having a baby boy in the fall, and I tin can already tell he's going to be the new object of our affections.

The side by side piece of the EvRev puzzle fell into place the very next yr in Mrs. Hartunian's third-grade class, which is when I met Cindy. She had long black pilus, a talent for drawing svelte pictures of glamorous girls, and a peachy Granny Goose potato bit hookup (her dad worked there, and so she would always bring a huge box of assorted fries to every class political party).

Cindy is still my number 1 surf buddy, and the 1 person I can always depend on when I'thousand feeling blue.

But Evolution Revolution's real roots didn't take agree until loftier school, when Jen, Cindy and I all played flute in the schoolhouse band. It was betwixt orchestra rehearsals and marching band competitions (BAND GEEKS!) that our friendship really grew.

Evolution Revolution honors the bonds of friendship and the people who are there for u.s.a. through good times and bad. Just that's not the entire story behind this warm great pink gloss…

What is the MAC Bloggers' Obsessions Drove?

Back in Jan, MAC asked a grouping of dazzler bloggers to submit ideas, in pictures and words, for an upcoming collection of Lipglasses and Eyeshadows. Ix of the submissions would eventually go on to get the products in the release.

When I was brainstorming ideas for colors, two things kept popping into my caput: 1) memories of a trip that Jen, Cindy and I took to Maui a few years ago; and two) how we're all shaped by the challenges nosotros face. Two hundred and 50 words later, Evolution Revolution was born.

In a style, I'm thankful for the obstacles life regularly throws in my path, because it's the challenges that force us to modify, grow and evolve.

One afternoon, while I was on vacation with two of my closest friends from childhood, I witnessed something I'll never forget. Nosotros were on the last twenty-four hours of our daughter'south trip to Maui and had pulled the car over at an unnamed beach to take hold of ane final dusk before heading habitation. Standing there on the side of the route, I caught a glimpse of the light falling on our faces the moment the sun drifted beneath the horizon. The colors flashed from buttery gold, pink, peach and purple to glittering blue and greenish and back again.

Information technology was ane of those moments when you experience like you're exactly where y'all're supposed to be. I realized that every bump in the route helped me go to that spot, changing me into the girl standing there on that strip of sand, etching that moment into retention.

Similar colors shifting in the calorie-free as information technology falls on a woman's face at sunset, the colors of Evolution Revolution Lipglass are cute and circuitous — from some angles, pinkish; from others, groovy gold. And when the lite hits them just correct, we see brief flashes of purple, dark-green and blue micro glitter.

We all confront challenges that change usa, but I like to call back they also help us become where nosotros need to be.

That is Development Revolution.

In the lab at the Estée Lauder Companies Canadian Innovation Middle terminal April, I mixed pigments similar a mad makeup scientist until everything about the colour felt but correct.

MAC paired each of the bloggers with a chemist during the color mixing/matching phase. Cheryl (she invented the MAC Acrylic Paints; can you believe it?!) and I hit it off right abroad!

I can only hope that MACaholics beloved the color equally much equally I do, because when I hold it in my hand, I see much more than a Lipglass…

I see the fabric of lifelong friendships.

I see the strength within each and every ane of u.s..

And nearly of all, I run across you lot.

The subtle green, blue and regal glitter sparkles on your lips equally you walk across the phase on graduation day. The tube waits patiently in your bag on your first day to work. The wand waves in your fingertips as you realize that, yep, you're finally over him, and you know you're going to be okay.

This Lipglass is my beloved alphabetic character to yous, my friend, and I promise information technology helps you write the story of your life.
